Determined to leave the awful heat and humidity behind, we were headed for the hills. Mountains, actually. The higher elevations of the Colorado Rockies promised cooler temps, and we planned to shelter there for the remainder of the summer. So we put our heads down and drove. Good long solid days of freeways.
First stop = Hargus RV Park in Clinton, Oklahoma on the 27th.
Second stop = The KOA again in Santa Fe, New Mexico on the 28th.
Nearly there...
I don't think I took any photos in Clinton - too damned hot there too! Although we did find a good little Chinese buffet there! Didn't sound/look that promising at first but turned out to be surprisingly good food and variety (or maybe it was the effect of the heat stroke?!)! In NM, stormy skies greeted us that evening. I don't think it rained really, but the skies were beautiful, and the cooler temps were VERY welcome!! Here, the slaves are taking their kitty masters out for a walk to the dog park.
Master Scratty (or guess that should be Mistress Scratty) has a head-on with one of the dog park guests. Happily, no fatalities to report (actually, as you should know by now, they left as friends).
The next day, on our way out, we HAD TO stop by the San Marcos Cafe again!!!! Those raspberry blintzes were calling to me - screaming to me, more like! So, once again, a few more photos of the lovely landscaping there. Here, a white peacock - or, apparently, peahen...
because I think these were her babies.
Was this Daddy maybe? I don't know, but he's pretty good lookin', doncha think?
