Eureka Springs

Hey!  I'm back!  After a long absence, I'm back for some more blogging.  We'll see how far I can get now before we take off in our RV again in June (plans for CO and ID and ??).  So, here we go...  Welcome back to Arkansas!  We had heard from a few folks that we should check out Eureka Springs, so we did!  It wasn't quite what I was expecting (although I guess I didn't know what to expect!).  Midweek wasn't too bad, but weekends were pretty crazy!  This is definitely a popular tourist destination!  Pedestrians, hawgs, cars, and RVs all marauding the small winding streets, making their crowded way past old Victorian buildings, new-fangled tourist traps, all types of eateries, and pretty little garden spots (parts of the springs themselves).  In the photo above, you see Bill at a scenic overlook.  Can't see the town?  Neither could we! Not much visible from there but trees!  A sea of pretty green.

So now let's take a little tour of the town.

We'll start with lunch, shall we?  At the Catfish Cabin?  Why not!  Pretty good stuff!  (even for moi, who's not so crazy about fish, esp. catfish - or so I thought!).

And some local color...(this is, by the way, a pretty colorful place...)

Since our RV park was so close to the Christ of the Ozarks, we decided to give it a look.  This is the backside, but you get the general idea.  We personally found it a disappointing rendition.

 More cure claims.

 Cool old ads.

Some neat old buildings and a glimpse of the narrow, winding, steep, and curving roads that go through this town.

Good old Americana.

 Humpty and his walls.

 One of many.

 Looking back...

 Neat walkway details.

And...well, uh...  So this is the type of thing I find when window-shopping!

One of the decorative little garden spots around town.

Another one.

And one of the cool old buildings you can come across in ES's "burbs."

More fun details on someone's house.

And another.
