A Dam Site Better? Or not...

On June 21st, we moved NE to Heber Springs, staying at the Dam Site (another COE) campground.  It had gotten good reviews, but we didn't much care for it.  We recently found out - from a local in the know - that the Dam Site isn't so great and seems to attract a different type of crowd...  Oh well, chalk it up to experience (what you get when you don't get what you wanted...) - we'll pick better next time!

Taking everyone out for a walk after getting settled in.  Yeah, there's our sweet old Ouraydog.  We sure do miss him.  Life is so cruel that way.  We have our Mizzou, who we love to death, but we still miss our Ouray a whole lot.

The kitties doing what they do whenever we meet someone and stop and chat - lay around and wait.

 Here's Bill, kissing more fish...!?
Only this time, he's smooching with a world record brown trout (40 lbs, 4 oz.)!  Caught on the Little Red River - but more on that place later.

Our campground was located by Greers Ferry Lake.  I'm happy to report the lake water is very warm, very easy to get in and swim around in!  And the "beach" is neato because the sand soon transitions to rock shelves!  So you can sit on a shelf and be in warm bathwater!  Just be careful not to slip and bust your butt!  Some of the rocks are a bit slick!

And some of the rocks are very popular hang-outs and...

tall enough to make for good cliff jumping!

I went back for sunset when I saw the colors started to show.

Very pretty skies.
