Meet...Mizzou!!!!!

Yes, here she is.  Our little girl and newest family member!  We got her in Mexico.  Mexico, Missouri, that is (thus, the name - "Mizzou" is the 'pet name' of the U of MO, and now the pet name of our pet!)!  She was waiting for us at their animal shelter (a very nice one, by the way!), third run down on the left.  It was a little hard for her to be seen, since her three littermates were hogging all the attention and face time, but her cute little face came through to us loud and clear!  These poor little pups were dumped off somewhere and had only been at this shelter for a week as of that Saturday, Sept. 22nd.  So the folks there had no info. on her.  She is our little Mexico Mystery!  Their guess as to her age was the same as mine:  probably 8-10 weeks old.  As to her breed origins, we'll just have to wait and see if anything makes itself apparent.  Everyone guesses German shepherd mix, but everyone ALWAYS guesses G shep mix!!!  I do think that's a possibility this time though.  But she is so small!  She, of course, came with a good load of roundworms (and fleas), and at her "deworming party" (at the shelter in Hannibal, MO, where we first looked for a doggy - THANK YOU so much folks, for the dewormer and Frontline!!!!!!), she weighed-in at 11.5 pounds - and 0.5 lbs of that was probably worms!!!!  So far, she has been an exceptionally smart, quick-learning pup, who has done very well with everything and been relatively easy to have around, considering she's A PUPPY...!  She's only had a few accidents inside, and is VERY good at going potty as soon as you take her out!  Senny has been very patient and tolerant with her, as she always is, and Mizzou has been pretty respectful of Senny, so that is going very well.  Mizzou and the cats, on the other hand, well...that will take more time.  They are all learning, we are trying to reinforce the good behaviors and discourage the bad, Mizzou is calming down, and the cats are slowly getting "defused" (yes, as in bombs...!).  She knows so much already, seems to fit in with our lives and routines almost perfectly, and is really so well-behaved for such a young puppy who couldn't have had much training before she was unceremoniously tossed-out...is Ouray in there?  Sometimes we wonder...   We still miss our boy.  He was the best and cutest ever.  But isn't she adorable????!!!!!!!!!!!   So maybe he's come back, or maybe he picked her out for us.  I don't know, but I can say for sure she's stolen our hearts, and she's come home.
